The Building

The Caribbean Sea View (the tower above) is a former hotel turned condominium. The property was divided into two separate but co-functioning parts. The long corridor past the glass doors (see photo below) just to the right of the Caribbean Sea View elevator doors leads to the other property, Vistas de San Juan  (the shorter/longer section attached in the photo above).

The laundry facilities (see the last section of this page) and the private parking* are located on the other side of the corridor on the Vistas de San Juan side.

At the end of the corridor, take a left to exit and take the stairs down one level and you will see the main entrance to Vistas de San Juan.
The laundry room is located around the front desk, take a right from the waiting area once you pass the front desk. Walk to the far end of the corridor past the mailboxes. The laundry facilities are to the right at the end of the corridor. There are some public restrooms for residents and visitors across the laundry room.

*Private parking requires an additional fee.

Entering the Building and the Apartment

The main entrance to our building, Caribbean Sea View is on 602 Manuel Fernandez Juncos Avenue. During the day, the main lobby is open, full of activity from the residents, guests, and small businesses that rent some of the spaces on the ground floor.

In the main lobby, left of the security desk, you will see a locked glass door that leads to the building’s main elevators.
The glass door says, Caribbean Sea View (see just below).

Unlocking the Main Elevator Waiting Room Door

In order to get buzzed in:

  • Go to the intercom to the right of the glass door

  • Press:  2600 (our apartment number)+ (symbol)

When we answer, PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME and the APARTMENT YOU ARE GOING TO for example: “Hi, this is Jenny checking into Sol Studio”.

This will connect you with us over a phone intercom (you will speak with us via speakerphone) after we confirm it is you, we will buzz you in.

If by any chance, someone opens the door for you and you proceed to go up to the apartment, please notify us when you are settled in so that we know you have arrived.

You will only have to do this ONCE.

After you are buzzed in, you will go up to the apartment, introduce your door code (sent on the day of check-in), and you will get the glass door key (usually left on the counter) which also opens the main building door when it is locked (after hours).
ALWAYS TAKE THE KEY WITH YOU!

  • Dial: 2600#  (2600) then (#) sign
  • Speak to the intercom & say your full name & where you are checking in to.
  • Get buzzed in
  • Get close to the elevator door to open it because you will hear a high-pitched buzz which indicates when the door is unclocked.

TO UNLOCK THE ELEVATOR DOOR WITH THE KEY, YOU WILL NEED TO WIGGLE THE KEY TO THE RIGHT AND THE DOOR WILL BUZZ SIMPLY PUSH THE DOOR.

 Using the Elevators

Being at the top of San Juan requires you to ascend 26 stories. The elevators are nice and normally efficient. The elevators, however, maybe a little quirky but they are safe. The oddest thing is that the second elevator, (the one closest to the painting in the main lobby waiting room)  will occasionally go down to the basement before it returns to the lobby to continue ascending to the floors above the ground level.

There is a faster, if not, less appealing alternative to go up and down the building (see ALTERNATIVE ELEVATOR below)

Getting Into
the Sunrise Apartments

The San Juan Sunrise Apartments are located on the 26th floor in front of the main elevators.

SOL STUDIO

Sol Studio is the first corner apartment with an ‘SS’ and a star on the door (right next to the hall floor window which should be to your right once you exit the elevator). You will not confuse the door because it will have a smart lock pad in addition to a traditional key lock.

Please see The Sol Studio page to learn how to operate the smart lock and for apartment details.

LUNA STUDIO

The Luna Studio is the second door from the corner of the floor. It is located next to Sol Studio just left of the waiting bench once you exit the elevator. Luna Studio has a moon on the door to help you identify the door.

Please see the Luna Studio page for details on how to open Luna Studio’s door.

Late Night Arrivals (8:50 P.M. – 6 A.M.)

If you should arrive after 8:50 P.M., the main lobby door will be locked. There is a security guard on duty overnight and in order to get his attention, buzz the doorbell on the left side of the front lobby entrance. Simply tell the security guard that you are staying in apartment 2600 and that you were told to dial us on the intercom. Proceed to the intercom as mentioned above and dial 2600 to call for entry. You will be buzzed in after we confirm that you are our guest. Our conversation will be through the intercom. When we are done speaking, you can hang up by pressing the # sign.

ALTERNATIVE ELEVATOR

Once you have the main elevator key which is located inside the blue glass box in the black dresser, you can use this very same key to open the second elevator located behind a closed door just opposite the apartment building intercom that you use to get buzzed in. You will see that the elevator is called, “elevador de carga or cargo elevator. It is not as spacious, nice, or fancy as the main elevators but it is much faster. Most residents use this elevator simply because of its efficiency. Don’t be afraid of all the elevator mechanics which you hear. Also, there is a 10-second delay for the door to close.

Parking

There is plenty of on-street parking. The neighborhood is for the most part very safe. San Juan police and private security are always monitoring the area throughout the day and night. As is advisable anywhere, do not leave valuables in the car, and make sure that nothing is visible and tempting for someone to break into your car.

LAUNDRY

Laundry can be a little tricky and although you may, in fact, do laundry, I do not recommend it. We have a red laundry/shopping cart located in the apartment’s main closet.

First of all, you will need quarters or very crisp dollar bills. DO NOT purchase a coin, because they do not work. You may use quarters and pay $2 per wash/dry. The washing machines and dryers are in poor and desperate need of repair or better yet, replacement. The last that I saw was that only two of the machines are functioning.  Regardless, there is a fan there, a large table for folding and building restrooms across the Laundry.
